Sightwalks


Tactile paving helps visually impaired individuals navigate sidewalks but doesn't provide information about surrounding services, requiring them to rely on assistance. A new tactile signage system has been designed to improve this, allowing visually impaired people to identify basic services and businesses by tapping the sidewalk with their cane. Using a pattern similar to the universal system, a horizontal bar on the sidewalk indicates a tile where vertical lines can be counted, each representing a category of commercial venue. For example, one line indicates a restaurant, two lines a bank, three a grocery store, and four a drugstore. This system, implemented throughout Miraflores, helps blind people find locations independently. Agency: Circus GREY
